I’ve lived an unusual life! I’ve been a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a Realtor, a Substance Abuse Counselor, Single’s Coordinator for a Church and my last job was at the 3rd Judicial District Court in Ruston. With each role I found myself challenged. I’ve learned to value the important things in life; things like compassion, kindness, never to judge others or compare things with the value of the person, that truth and honesty count most in developing character. Growing up in the fifties was a gift and life seemed simple. It never was! It’s been complicated, rewarding, fun, painful, constantly changing and always a surprise. I’ve not always enjoyed the journey but I endured and today I am grateful for every move, some 20+ times, for each place I found myself living, from Lafayette, LA to Houston, TX. I’ve met some fascinating people along the way and visited places I couldn’t imagine this county girl being. I would not have missed any of it.
In 2001 I returned to Simsboro and took on another project, restoring my family home which was built in the 20’s. I may never finish but the 100 year old trees and nature all around me compensate and nurture me daily. My hobbies include reading and writing. A dream is to write a book one day and I have boxes of journals to help me began. I have always tired to embrace life and enjoy each day’s gifts and believe this new chapter of my life will be as interesting as the past 50 have been.
