SHS Alumni Association Awards Two Scholarships

The Simsboro High School Alumni Association awarded scholarships to Shandreka Holland and Kristen Wall at the graduation ceremony on May 16, 2006. The alumni awarded a $500 scholarship to each of the students.

Shandreka Holland, Valedictorian of the Class of 2006, plans to attend Louisiana Tech University and major in psychology. In addition to maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Shandreka was a leader on the SHS campus serving as chaplain of the cheerleaders, president of the FCCLA, and president of the senior class. Her community service includes a monthly ministry to an local retirement community.

Kristen Wall, vice-president of the Class of 2006, maintained a 3.82 GPA. She also plans to attend Louisiana Tech University and major in nursing. Kristen played varsity sports, was selected as homecoming queen, served as president of the National Honor Society, and was voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” Her community service includes mission trips with her church to Louisiana, several other states and two foreign countries.

All students competing for the alumni scholarships participated in an interview process.

Your annual dues provide the funds for the scholarships each year.
